It sucks to be the only breadwinner.....

Normally, I don't like to whine or talk about my problems.  But I have so much stress in my life, I have to or explode!!

I'd go see a therapist, but even with insurance, I can't afford the co-pay.  I try and get out with friends, even if it's just for a cup of coffee or driving around, but unfortunately those times are few and far between.

My husband has been out of work since March 2009.  In the beginning he applied everywhere, but in March 2010 he had to have emergency back surgery and now has constant back and leg pain as well as he walks with the use of a cane.  He was getting unemployment, but that ran out in August 2010.  My oldest daughter moved in with us in September 2010, and does pay rent as well as helping whenever and wherever she can.  But she works 2 part-time jobs, so her money is tight too.

November 2010 I was laid off from my job of 3 years.  Talk about sheer panic!!  One reason being is that hubby was facing another (more expensive) back surgery.  Loss of job = loss of insurance.  But I made a deal with them to cover me thru the end of the year.  Day of the surgery, as I was waiting in the waiting lounge, I received a call from my current employer offering me a position--starting in 3 days.  Of course I said yes, so I was only out of work for 3 weeks.

But the hard times still continued.  I haven't mentioned how I also take care of my mother who is in a nursing home.  That's best saved for another time.

Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to pay my bills and utilities.  I behind 1 payment to our bankruptcy attorney (oh yeah, we declared bankruptcy last year in September.  Unfortunately, they wouldn't let us do the chapter 7.  We could if we'd give up our cars, which I need mine for work and my husband needs his to get to his various doctor appts.).  Anyway, back to the subject.  I'm also behind on my lights, my cable/internet/house phone.  Basically I need about $1,000 just to get caught up.  That doesn't include the repairs that our cars need.  My poor husband has been without air conditioning in his car all summer.  My car needs brakes and so on.

Some people would say, well give up the cable/internet/house phone.  It's not that much and I know every little bit would help.  But our house phone is also our fax line, which we need at times.  Some days my husband can't get out of the house, so the internet is his life line.  We'd spend more if we just kept 1 or 2 of these options, it was cheaper to get a bundled price.

Time to go to the store and only buy the one and two things I can afford.

Later....
